They said about her...
|
Sanne Meijer is a gifted artist with a remarkable eye for movement. In her extensive portrait gallery she has captured the grace and beauty of many famous dancers who seem to leap from her canvas. Clearly determined to penetrate the almost sacred world of Sumo, she traveled to Japan to meet and study her newly chosen subjects. Her Journey, as we can see from her results, was not without success. Her unique true-to-life portrayal of the Sumo wrestler reflects the very essence of her magnificent athletes. Much like her dancers, her Sumo subjects exude a fascinating combination of strength and elegance. Much like her dancers, the Sumo is caught in motion and one can almost hear the roaring crowds cheering them in the arena. In her portraits of the Sumo wrestler Sanne Meijer transcends the natural boundaries of East and West. |
